#Stuffed fan drilled by line drive in frightening MLB scene

A life-size teddy bear took a line drive off the noggin Thursday night at the Oakland Coliseum but bounced back like a champ, hardly worse for the wear as he stayed in his seat and watched the A’s beat the Diamondbacks 5-1.

Diamondbacks infielder Ketel Marte poked the bear with his foul ball to the seats in left field in the eighth inning. Some teams have filled the stands with cardboard cutouts of fans or even pets, with no live fans allowed in because of the pandemic, but the A’s added some furry friends to their attendance.

The bear attack made for plenty of puns on the A’s broadcast after they realized Marte’s line drive had clocked the stuffed animal in the head.

“Just unbearable,” one commentator said. “I can’t bear to watch.”
