#Taylor Swift’s ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ Breaks Record to Artist With Most Streamed Album on Spotify in One Day

Taylor Swift continues breaking records.

On Saturday, Spotify announced that the superstar had broken not one but two records on the music service with the release of her newest album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which dropped Friday at midnight ET.

“She’s done it again,” Spotify wrote on Twitter. “On October 27th, Taylor Swift became the most-streamed artist in a single day in Spotify history, and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2023 so far.”

Swift previously set the record for the most-streamed album in a single day with her 2022 album Midnights, which featured all new songs, including hits like “Anti-Hero,” “Karma” and “Bejeweled.” At the time, the Grammy winner shared her excitement about breaking the record. “How did I get this lucky, having you guys out here doing something this mind blowing?!” she tweeted. “Like what even just happened??!?!”

1989 Taylor’s Version marks the singer-songwriter’s fourth rerelease of her earlier albums, following Scooter Braun acquiring Big Machine Records and taking control of her masters. She previously dropped Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version) and Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), which means there are only two left: Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version) and Reputation (Taylor’s Version).

Her newest rerelease includes all 13 songs from the original album, as well as five new vault tracks, which are “Is It Over Now?,” “Say Don’t Go,” “Now That We Don’t Talk,” “Suburban Legends” and “Slut!” Swift announced 1989 would be the next Taylor’s Version she would be dropping during the closing night of The Eras Tour in Los Angeles in August.

“The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement,” she wrote on social media at the time. “To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind.”
