President Trump said Thursday in an Oval Office interview that he stayed out of a federal review of the FBI’s Russia investigation, but expects a potentially damning report “soon.”

Shortly after Trump’s interview with The Post, Attorney General William Barr said in a TV interview there would be a “development” Friday in the review of the “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation led by Connecticut US Attorney John Durham.

“As you know it’s being looked at now by Durham … So we’ll find out how that comes out at some point, and I’ve let Bill Barr handle it,” Trump told The Post.

“I didn’t have to, as you know. They consider the president to be the chief law enforcement officer. I didn’t have to, but I let him. He’s highly respected and a good man. And with me they found no collusion whatsoever after spending two years and $48 million. They found no collusion. And then they do that, it’s — honestly it’s a disgrace. The whole thing is a disgrace.”

Trump added: “But they’ll be coming out I assume soon, and let’s see what happens.”

Barr said in his Thursday evening interview that the matter in Durham’s probe is not an “earth-shattering development,” but will give an “indication that things are moving along at the proper pace, as dictated by the facts in this investigation.”

Trump frequently blasts former Obama administration leaders for misusing surveillance laws to target his campaign. The Justice Department inspector general last year found “significant inaccuracies and omissions” in court requests to monitor former Trump adviser Carter Page. Trump also routinely criticizes the pursuit of his former national security adviser Michael Flynn and the conduct of former FBI official Peter Strzok and others in the bureau’s upper management.

An investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence that Trump colluded with Russia in 2016.

“When you look at [former FBI Director James] Comey and [former FBI Deputy Director Andrew] McCabe, and [former CIA Director John] Brennan — and, excuse me, the man that sat at this desk, President Obama, got caught spying on my campaign with [former Vice President Joe] Biden. Biden and Obama, and they got caught spying on the campaign,” Trump said Thursday.
