#Sweet Reincarnation Reveals New Key Visual & Additional Characters
A new key visual has been released for the upcoming Sweet Reincarnation anime series. The anime is set to premiere in July 2023.
In addition, two new cast members will join the series as additional characters for the show. They include Hitomi Nabatame as Agnes Mille Morteln (pictured left) and Youko Hikasa as Brioche Salgrade Mille Retes (pictured right).
They join a main voice cast headlined by Ayumu Murase as Pastry, Natsumi Fushiwara as Marcarlo, Maaya Uchida as Luminite, Kaede Hondo as Licorice, Hiroshi Tsuchida as Casserole, Rumi Ookubo as Josephine, Yuu Wakabayashi as Sheets, Kaya Okuno as Petra, and Wataru Katou as Squale.
Naoyuki Kuzuya (Rent-A-Girlfriend storyboard artist for Season 2 Ep 15, 16 et al.) is directing the anime, with Mitsutaka Hirota (Rent-A-Girlfriend) writing the screenplay and scripts. Chiko Miyagawa (Cute High Earth Defense Club Happy Kiss!) is handling the character designs, while Hiroshi Nakamura (Crayon Shin-chan Gaiden: Omocha Wars) composes the musical score. SynergySP is in charge of the animation production, with assistance from Studio Comet.
The anime is based on the light novel series written by Nozomu Koryu and illustrated by Yasuyuki Syuri. It was first published by TO Books on October 20, 2015 and has released 23 volumes as of April 2023. The series originated as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou in February 17, 2015.
The light novels have also inspired a manga adaptation written by Midori Tomizawa and illustrated by Iida Seriko in 2017. J-Novel Club releases the manga in English digitally.
Crunchyroll will stream Sweet Reincarnation worldwide, except in Japan. It describes the synopsis as:
A boy named Pastry is set to become the next lord of the destitute dominion of Morteln. He’s known for having remarkable talent for his age… and it just so happens he was a genius pastry chef with a promising future in his previous life! He still retains his determination to make sweets that will make everyone smile, even after reincarnating as Pastry.
But many challenges stand before him, including bandits attacking his domain, malicious and eccentric nobles, an unfortunate financial situation, and land so barren that even water is scarce.
The only weapons he has to fight them with are his own ingenuity and love for making sweets. Can Pastry succeed in bringing happiness to the land?!
