#Stormtrooper statue stolen from Long Island store returns home

This was the stormtrooper they were looking for.

It took more than three weeks but on Saturday a 3-foot stormtrooper figure from “Star Wars” found its way back to the Long Island store where it had been stolen — with a little help from the Suffolk County police and the public.

The figure was located in a home in Wyandanch, store owner Richard McWilliams told the Post Saturday afternoon. The person at the home had apparently bought the statue not realizing it was stolen and turned it over to police.

“I’m definitely surprised,” McWilliams said. “I did not expect to get him back. I guess he took a vacation. And who knows what he saw over the last few weeks?”

Carissa Savillo, 34, address unknown, was arrested for stealing the statue and charged with Petit Larceny, Suffolk County police said Saturday.

The figure was taken April 1 from the front of the Blast from the Past retro video game store where it had been on display, according to McWilliams and the police.

Surveillance from the store on West Main Street showed two women walking off with the 3-foot Star Wars figure on April 1.

Police arrested Carissa Savillo for stealing the prop from outside the Long Island shop.

McWilliams said he and the cops got a lot of tips from the public, at least one of which helped police locate the statue and arrest Savillo.
