Valve surprised us with the Steam Deck during the summer. It is a fresh piece of device that will enable us to enjoy a handheld console. More accurately, a pocket PC crafted to play, above everything else, the majority of the games in our Steam library.
In concept, most of the titles in the Steam library are compatible in this way. However, some may cause issues like those that utilize third-party technology like an anti-cheat program. To ensure the accurate amount of suitable games and to ensure that the player knows whether a game will be able to operate on the Steam Deck or not before trying to install it, Valve has started to evaluate the Steam games one by one to classify them using a very simple method.

These classifications will be depicted by the icons shown in the image below and will be easily recognizable in the Steam Store on Deck at a brief look.
- VERIFIED games are those that operate flawlessly on Steam Deck without the need for any adjustments, and they meet certain criteria such as being completely compliant with the controller, not displaying compatibility alerts, supporting the Steam Deck display resolution (1280×800 or 1280×720), having readable text, and being fully compatible with Proton.
- PLAYABLE games may require some manual tweaks in order to play, such as using a community-created controller configuration or using the touchscreen interface to navigate a launcher.
- There isn’t much to say about the UNSUPPORTED, as these are titles that don’t work on the console due to software/hardware issues.
- UNKNOWN, as the title indicates, haven’t been reviewed by Valve yet.
