#Star Wars Andor Release Date Reportedly Revealed

“Star Wars Andor Release Date Reportedly Revealed”

With the recent debut of the Ms. Marvel trailer this past Tuesday, the official Disney+ calendar about upcoming series release dates is beginning to become a bit clearer now. With several Marvel and Star Wars projects already confirmed to be premiering this year, Star Wars: Andor, the Rogue One prequel series, still hasn’t officially been announced a release date yet. The next Star Wars project to premiere on Disney+ is the highly-anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which will finally be arriving on May 25. Now that Ms. Marvel has been revealed to premiere this June, it is more than likely that Andor will premiere sometime between Obi-Wan Kenobi and the third season of The Mandalorian.

According to a recent report from Bespin Bulletin, Andor is going to be premiering on Disney+ sometime during the month of August. Some believe that the upcoming prequel series will premiere even sooner, possibly towards the second half of July. From what fans have seen so far when it comes to Marvel and Star Wars projects releasing Disney+ recently, is that the premiere of weekly episodes never overlap with each other. “‘Ms. Marvel’ kicks off on June 8th. Andor will be the next tentpole Disney+ series after Ms. Marvel. I always heard August, and I won’t be surprised if it’s still there even though Ms. Marvel is coming slightly earlier than Disney previously mentioned.”

Star Wars: Andor is an upcoming American television series created by Tony Gilroy. The series will serve as a prequel to Rogue One, which was released in 2016. Star Wars: Andor will follow the character Cassian Andor, taking place five years before the events of the original film. While Diego Luna is reprising his Rogue One character, he is also serving as an executive producer for the prequel series. Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly are also set to star in the upcoming series.

During an interview with THR, actor Diego Luna discussed the difficulties he faced during the production for the upcoming series. “I have to be very careful in the way I answer everything,” he stated. “The way we’re shooting this reminds me of how we shot the film, and the amount of work behind this TV series reminds me of the work you do for a film. It feels like we’re doing a very long movie.”

“I think it’s really interesting to tell a story even though we know where it ends,” the actor expressed. “The way you can approach a story like this inevitably takes you into a deeper process of reflection. I tend to use that word a lot. So once you know what Cassian is capable of, then there’s room for so much exploration, and that’s something that excites me a lot as an actor. I think the format of a series is amazing because we have a lot of time to explore all those layers.”

While the release date for Star Wars: Andor has not been confirmed for the time being, the series has been revealed to debut sometime this year. The series was originally expected to debut in 2021, before production was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first season will consist of a total of 12 episodes and will premiere exclusively on Disney+. Star Wars: Andor has already been renewed for a second season ahead of its series premiere.
