#Spy x Family Season 2’s Ending Animation Evokes Paper Cutout Charm

The ending animation sequence for Spy x Family Season 2, which had its premiere very recently at the time of writing, has been made available for viewing on the TOHO animation YouTube channel.

Storyboarded and directed by Robot Communications Inc’s Eugene (who is also one of the two credited animators), the ending animation visualizes the Forger family with a charming paper cutout-like aesthetic, their bodies surrounded by a gentle pastel orange, and puts them in a world that resembles the set of a paper puppet theater. The sequence is set to Vaundy feat. Cory Wong‘s slightly jazzy “Todome no Ichigeki,” which had its music video released an hour after the ending animation.

Spy x Family Season 2 is streamed by Crunchyroll, Muse Asia, and Bilibili outside Japan. The anime is based on the Shueisha-published manga by Tatsuya Endou, which began serialization on Shonen Jump+ in 2019 and released its 12th tankoubon volume on October 4, 2023. The first season of the Wit Studio and Cloverworks co-production aired in 2022 with two split cours, and an anime movie titled Spy x Family CODE: White is set to premiere on December 22 in Japan.
