#Train to the End of the World’s Opening Animation Released

KADOKAWA has uploaded the opening animation for the unique original anime Train to the End of the World, which begin airing on April 1 and is being streamed by Crunchyroll.

Set to Rei Nakashima‘s laidback “GA-TAN GO-TON,” the opening animation evokes various moods with its color and compositing, with nostalgia, melancholy, eeriness, and surreality all in the mix. The sequence is storyboarded by Maxilla’s Kazuya Futagoishi (Paradox Live The Animation opening director et al.), and unit directed by Futagoishi with fellow Maxilla colleague Naoya Murakawa (Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear Punch! Episode 7 and 11 director).

KADOKAWA also released Train to the End of the World‘s ending animation, which is storyboarded and directed by the series’ director Tsutomu Mizushima. The ending song is “Eureka” by Rokudenashi.

Crunchyroll describes the anime as:

In a seemingly ordinary rural town, something strange is happening to the residents. But Shizuru Chikura is more concerned for her missing friend. Determined to find her, Shizuru and three other girls board an abandoned train and travel to the outside world, unsure if they’ll make it back alive. As they venture toward the unknown, the question looms: What awaits them at the final stop?
