“#Spider-Man 2 Reveal Is Real-Time VFX, Not CGI”
One of the huge surprises unveiled for PlayStation 5 owners during the PlayStation Showcase was Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We thought that when Insomniac Games released the enchanting teaser for Marvel’s Wolverine, that would be it. However, there were more surprises in store for us; showcasing an action-packed trailer that would be the sequel to Spider-Man.
The game will feature Peter Parker and Miles Morale. The VFX manager of Insomniac Games, Bryanna Lindsey clarified that “the trailer was in-engine, with the game’s own engine on PS5, and not CGI.”
The team did a killer job. Real time VFX are difficult but I’m so proud of our whole team for pushing our quality bar.

Spider-Man 2 Trailer
The cinematic teaser showed ray-traced reflections, particle effects, astounding lighting. However, the most prominent feature in the trailer was the emergence of Venom; who wants to give a hard time to the team of Peter Parkers and Miles Morales. Generally, when we see cinematic kind of trailers, we think of them as being pre-rendered and this is especially the case if the game’s release is several years out but with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 trailer that was not the case. It does not seem out of place graphically, except when the “initial TV Spot for Miles Morales” and that too was purely CGI.

Insomniac Games have further revealed that the original team for this game consists of its top manager, Bryan Intihar who holds the creative director position, and Ryan Smith as the game director.
“While testing the full potential of the console will be great fun, we are also looking forward to creating new stories for Peter and Miles in this sequel.. The images in today’s trailer are a mere reflection of what is to come in terms of the new abilities that our heroes will be able to acquire”. It was then announced that Marvel’s Spider-Man will release in 2023 for PlayStation 5, exclusively.”
