In Season 2, Alina is committed to destroy the Shadow Fold and preserve Ravka. Nevertheless, this time, General Kirigan is supported by a scary new force of dangerous new Grisha recruits and seemingly unstoppable shadow monsters. Therefore, this time, Alina will face a stronger and angrier Darkling.

Now, Alina and Mal must assemble their strong new allies in order to defeat him, and they must go out across several continents in search of two fabled creatures that can enhance her abilities.

In this season, viewers will travel to new places like Shu Han and Novyi Zem. Furthermore, it is going to be a little bit mythological as we get more information regarding the creator of the amplifiers, Morozova — his backstory, his identity, and his connection to this world.

Season 1 recap

The story takes place in Grishaverse and revolves around the Grishas, or people with unique talents who use the elements in various ways, whether to battle, heal, or create.

The protagonist of the tale is a little orphan girl, Alina, who relies solely on her best friend Mal. Eventually they both join the army, her as a mapmaker and him as a tracker. They are given the task to enter the Shadow Fold, a vast area of darkness that divides the kingdom in half.

There appears to be no way to destroy the Shadow Fold other than to be saved by a predicted Grisha known as the Sun Summoner. Anybody who enters the Shadow Fold has the chance of coming across lethal, dangerous monsters. Alina harnesses a limitless power from within, the power she never even realized she possessed, when she discovers her best friend in imminent danger, leading everyone in the kingdom.

Grishas believe that Alina is the sun summoner, the savior destined to end the Shadow Fold once and for all.

The season finale of Shadow and Bone Season 1 left many issues unsolved, setting up certain future stories and hinting at more turmoil to come. The incidents of Season 2 continue from this point.
