#Sam Darnold backs Jets coach Adam Gase after Jamal Adams’ teardown

Jamal Adams may have believed Adam Gase is not the right coach for the Jets, but the team’s quarterback disagrees.

Sam Darnold spoke to the media on Tuesday as players report to training camp and he backed the coach who came under fire last week from Adams.

“He’s the right leader for this team for sure,” Darnold said on a Zoom call. “I think for me personally, he’s helped me grow a ton as a quarterback in learning this offense. I just think throughout the weeks leading up to games he does everything he possibly can to put us in position to win on Sundays. That’s from my experience with coach Gase. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with him so far.”

The Jets traded Adams to the Seahawks on Saturday. Darnold said he does not worry about things he can’t control so he did not offer up any opinions on the trade. Before the trade, Adams blasted Gase in a published report, specifically his leadership ability. But Darnold disagrees.
