“RESULTS: It's Time To Find Out What Your Favorite Winter OP Was”

Ranking of Kings

The actual season of spring is only days away now, so it’s the perfect time to finalize the results of which winter opening was considered the best by YOU! We asked for your votes and after a few days of rigorous voting, over 3,800 responses told us your favorite OP and we’ve now got the official results to show you! Thank you for all of your votes and now it’s time to find out which openings were your favorites of the winter season.

#5: Akebi's Sailor Uniform – "Hajimari no Setsuna" by Rōbai Gakuen Chūtōbu 1-nen 3-kumi (3%/131 votes)

Just from watching the visuals alone, this is the kind of song you’d associate with a show like this. It’s poppy, would be easy to get stuck in your head after a few listens, and is very easy to listen to. I especially like the drum roll section around a minute into the opening that gives you something you wouldn’t expect with how the song is going. It’s a good song to utilize for this show.

#4: My Dress-Up Darling – "Sansan Days" by Spira Spica (13%/494 votes)

A lot of what we just mentioned can be applied to My Dress-Up Darling’s opening as it hits a lot of the same marks as Akebi’s Sailor Uniform’s OP. The song certainly fits the very fun vibe of not only the show, but the opening’s animation as well. I will also call out that I am always a fan of the music video of anime openings using themes, aspects, and/or trying to recreate parts from the anime its from. That’s always a solid bonus for the artists to do — and it's what we get here!

#3: Ranking of Kings – "Hadaka no Yūsha" by Vaundy (17%/659 votes)

A lot of good openings create a build throughout the song that’s used to get viewers more excited and pumped up for the show that’s about to begin. The latest Ranking of Kings OP is a very good example of that, as it starts off somewhat slower and softer before ramping up into the chorus with a faster pace that’s going to get you ready for the latest episode to kick off. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s a good song on its own merits outside of being an anime opening.

#2: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – "Zankyō Sanka" by Aimer (19%/747 votes)

I believe I said something along the lines in a previous OP results that Demon Slayer constantly has banger openings. I’m definitely a fan of this latest one with its usage of piano and horns throughout — and the way it has an easy group sing-along portion that’s very catchy. It’s definitely the kind of song you’d want to search for outside of watching the show because you’d just want to hear more of it.

#1: Attack on Titan – "The Rumbling" by SiM (31%/1194 votes)

There’s something very nostalgic about this opening — it’s absolutely the kind of music I listened to when I was younger. With how often Attack on Titan openings were meant to get you extremely excited right off the bat, it’s not surprising that they eventually went to a genre like metalcore to provide that same feeling in a different way. The melodic singing and intense growls are perfect for a show like this because, most likely, any episode of the series is going to put you through the wringer with a wide range of emotions. Just don’t try to start a mosh pit when you’re watching the episode. That might not end well for you or your TV.

Congratulations to "The Rumbling" by SiM from Attack on Titan for being this season’s top opening as voted on by all of you! Thank you once again to everyone who voted and participated! You can certainly add all of these songs to your anime playlist and have a good time.
