The website for the Ranking of Kings TV anime announced this morning that tomorrow’s SPECIAL EVENT〜Summer Festival~ has been canceled due to Kage’s voice actor Ayumu Murase contracting COVID-19. Murase’s agency revealed on its website that the voice actor is currently recovering at home under the direction of his local doctor.

VIMS, the agency that looks after Murase, said that the voice actor was informed that he’d had a recording session on July 6 with another voice actor who had recently tested positive. Murase quickly underwent a PCR test which today returned a positive result. The doctor has told Murase to stay home and recover.

After discussions between the event organizers, it was decided that tomorrow’s Ranking of Kings TV Anime SPECIAL EVENT〜Summer Festival~ would not be going ahead. Refunds will be given out to those who had purchased tickets and the limited edition goods made for the event will be sold online in the future. A post on the anime’s website apologized for the situation and thanked fans for their understanding.
Ranking of Kings is based on the manga of the same name by Sosuke Toka and features animation directed by Yosuke Hatta at WIT Studio. Crunchyroll is streaming the entire series in both subbed and dubbed formats, describing it as such:
How prosperous your nation is, how many powerful warriors it boasts, and how heroic and strong its king is. These are the criteria that factor into the system known as the Ranking of Kings. The main character, Bojji, was born the first prince of the kingdom ruled by King Bossu, who is ranked number seven. But Bojji was born unable to hear and is so powerless that he can’t even swing a sword. In consequence, his own retainers and the public, look down upon him as completely unfit to be king. It is then that Bojji finds his first friend, Kage, and Bojji’s life takes a dramatic turn…
