The saying “No good deed goes unpunished” could become applicable for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Videos of some Raiders show many players without masks — including quarterback David Carr and tight end Jason Witten — at a charity event Monday night to help teammate Darren Waller raise money for his foundation. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the event could be potential noncompliance of league and state restrictions.

An attendee told the website, that Waller was wearing his mask throughout the event aimed at helping young adults addicted to drugs and alcohol. It was held at DragonRidge Country Club.

Raiders officials on Tuesday morning had no comment about the event, and it was unclear if the attendees were tested before the event, according to the report.

This isn’t the first time the Raiders, who play host to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, have been embroiled in a coronavirus-related controversy.

The NFL fined Jon Gruden $100,00 and the Raiders $250,000 for violating the league’s mask mandate. After the Raiders game against the Saints, Gruden revealed he had contracted the virus.

The league also is investigating the team for allowing unauthorized locker-room access, according to ESPN.

As for the Waller event, Kathleen Richards — a Henderson city spokeswoman — said city officials became aware of it after it was held and “are currently investigating.”

An attendee at the event also told the website that people were allowed in without having their temperatures taken or filling out any COVID-19 questionnaires. The attendee also said workers and media members wore masks but most of the players and attendees did not.

This comes on the heels of some other concerning coronavirus news for the NFL. The Tennessee Titans closed their facility after eight team members (three players, five personnel) tested positive for COVID-19, the league announced Tuesday.
