#Pusha T Explains Cryptic Kanye West Contract Post

Last month, Pusha T caused some confusion when he posted a signed contract with G.O.O.D. Music and Def Jam thanking Kanye West. On Thursday (February 17), King Push gave his first interview in over two years when he sat down with Complex‘s Speedy Mormon to set the record straight on his record deal, upcoming album and plenty more.

“Actually, the contract was just [Kanye] signing over my profits from my back-catalog and the profits for this album as well,” he explained. “Just straight to me. It wasn’t anything bad… He was just like, ‘Nah, you take the money.’ If that don’t show you that that’s your bro, I don’t know what else gon’ show you… It was very honorable.”

The Virginia rhymer confirmed he’ll always be with G.O.O.D. Music but isn’t sure about his future with Def Jam beyond this contract, which will be fulfilled with the release of his anticipated 2022 album that’s rumored to be titled It’s Not Dry Yet. Push assured fans that the album will be released in the next two to three months.

Pusha t’s manager Steven Victor confirmed that Push now owns his own masters.

“[He’s still with] G.O.O.D. Music, he’s just not signed to Def Jam anymore,” Victor relayed. “This is his last album on Def Jam. I mean, we might re-sign with Def Jam, I’m just saying he fulfilled his contract obligation. He might re-sign with Def Jam, it’s just the whole point of it is that he’s still with Kanye regardless to wherever he ends up with his next projects. It will be with Kanye.”

Pusha kicked off the It’s Not Dry Yet rollout with the release of the Kanye West-assisted “Diet Coke” earlier in February. He even co-signed a “Diet Coke” freestyle courtesy of Jim Jones and Fabolous. As for the album, it’s half-produced by The Neptunes with Yeezy handling the other half.
