#Precure Franchise To Get 2 New Titles For Grown Up Fans

“Precure Franchise To Get 2 New Titles For Grown Up Fans”

Toei Animation has revealed that two new Pretty Cure series are on the way. One of them, Kibou no Chikara ~Otona Precure 23~, is set to premiere in October 2023 and will feature grown-up versions of the girls from Yes! Precure 5 and Yes! Precure 5 GoGo!, with Nozomi Yumehara being the focal character. The other is a sequel to Mahou Tsukai Precure! with the tentative title of Mahou Tsukai Precure! 2, which will be released in 2023.

A press release notes that while the main Precure audience is traditionally kids aged between three to six, these two new series are being made for fans who have now become adults so that they can continue to enjoy the franchise. The initiative is part of the 20th anniversary plans for the franchise, which began in 2004 with Futari wa Precure (titled Pretty Cure in English).

Yes! Precure 5 and Yes! Precure 5 GoGo! ran consecutively from 2007 to 2009, while Mahou Tsukai Precure! ran from February 2016 to January 2017. The Yes! Precure 5 titles were directed by Toshiaki Komura with character designs from Toshie Kawamura and series composition from Yoshimi Narita. Meanwhile, Mahou Tsukai Precure! had Masato Mitsuka at the helm with Emiko Miyamoto as character designer and Isao Murayama as series composer.

Yes! Precure 5, the fifth Precure title, marked the first time a Precure anime had more than a pair of Pretty Cures (five at first, in its case, then six in 2008). Mahou Tsukai Precure! was the 13th Precure title and featured a tale of “miracles and magic” with a magic and non-magic world.
