#Pennsylvania mom charged as getaway driver in son’s armed robbery

Steven James Martin was charged on Monday with robbing a store in Pennsylvania.

A Pennsylvania mom admitted that she was her son’s getaway driver after he allegedly held up a tobacco shop at gunpoint, state police said.

Lori Ann McHenry, 52, of Muncy, was charged last week by state police with conspiracy to commit robbery and theft in a March 18 armed heist at Sam’s Place Lottery & Tobacco in Montoursville, PennLive.com reports.

McHenry allegedly admitting driving her son, Steven James Martin, 28, to and from the shop, which state police investigators said he robbed of $3,570 at gunpoint.

Martin wore a camouflage face mask, black goggles and carried a drawstring bag during the alleged robbery, during which no shots were fired and no one was hurt, PennLive.com reported in March.

State police said in an affidavit McHenry has admitted to driving her son to the store, dropping him off and then picking him up after the alleged robbery, the Williamsport Sun-Gazette reports.

The pair was also caught on surveillance camera driving in a Lincoln town car on the night of the robbery, returning home hours later. State police said the footage and other surveillance videos showed McHenry lied about her and her son’s whereabouts that evening, PennLive.com reports.

Investigators later found items Martin allegedly used in the robbery during a search of the pair’s home on May 6, including a pellet gun, black goggles, a blue Penn State sweatshirt and a drawstring bag.

McHenry allegedly admitted that she knew her son’s plans when they left the house, according to an arrest affidavit.

Martin remains jailed without bail ahead of his trial on robbery and related counts, while McHenry has been released from custody after posting $50,000 bail, the Sun-Gazette reports.

McHenry is also facing charges for allegedly selling unknown pills to an informant or undercover officer in Muncy Creek Township in April. She had been released after posting $50,000 bond in that case, according to the newspaper.
