#Patriots’ Cam Newton is ‘tired of all this humble s–t’

Cam Newton may not be a Panther anymore, but he is ready to “motherf—ing roar.”

The larger-than-life former NFL MVP has a massive chip on his shoulder after an ugly ending in Carolina and multiple teams passing over him during free agency, and he posted an emotional, expletive-laden two-part video to Instagram on Sunday night while anxiously pacing around a small gym.

“You gonna choose that over this?” a shirtless Newton shouted between crunches and Russian twists. “I’m being modest, I’ll say this: I’m getting tired of being humble now.

“I’m really a killer, I’m really a killer. Do you hear me? I’m getting tired of all this humble s-–t because, when you’re humble, they start taking advantage of you. When you don’t say nothing, they start taking advantage of you.”

Newton, 31, was released from the Panthers a day after the team inked former Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to a three-year, $63 million contract on March 17. The three-time Pro Bowler recently signed a modest contract with the Patriots that includes just $550,000 in guaranteed money after earning a whopping $121.4 million through his first nine seasons in the NFL. The deal comes with $43,750 in per-game incentives and carries a maximum value of $7.5 million.

“It’s not a lot of things money cannot buy. But amongst the top of that list of things, you would find RESPECT as one of those!!” he wrote in an Instagram post of the paltry contract. “This is not about money for me, it’s about respect.”

The No. 1 overall pick from the 2011 NFL Draft is currently in New England undergoing a physical and will join a Tom Brady-less QB depth chart comprised of 23-year-old Auburn product Jarrett Stidham, and veteran Brian Hoyer. If healthy, the former Heisman Trophy winner, who is recovering from surgery from a Lisfranc fracture he suffered in the 2019 preseason (coincidentally against his new squad), will have a strong chance to earn the starting role.

“The hyenas can be doing all of this, the elephants can be doing all of this, the giraffes, the antelopes, the chimpanzees, even the gorilla,” he said. “But there’s one motherf–kg animal in the jungle and when he roars, everything stops. And I’m about to motherf—ing roar.”

Newton claims to be healthy now, but his aggressive and physical style of play has exposed him to significant wear and tear and scared off multiple potential suitors during the quarterback free-agency frenzy. In addition to the most recent foot surgery, the 6-foot-5, 245-pound quarterback has dealt with ankle injuries, a torn rotator cuff to his throwing shoulder and fractured ribs during his career.
