#Paige VanZant returns to her ‘happy place’ with UFC future in limbo

On Monday, the 26-year-old fighter revealed she is back in Portland, two days after falling to Amanda Ribas in UFC 251 at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.

“My happy place,” VanZant captioned an Instagram story from her couch.

VanZant, who is expected to test the free-agency waters, kept the positivity rolling Monday with a separate post.

“The sun will rise, and we will try again,” she shared alongside an Instagram selfie.

If Saturday’s battle against Ribas was VanZant’s final stand with UFC, she could find an opportunity with competitors Bellator or ONE Championship.

“I just feel like a regular extension isn’t what I want, and I want to prove my worth and my value — and I want a brand-new contract,” VanZant previously told ESPN. “And I’m really excited to get that opportunity and really test the free agency because how do you know what your value is unless you can go test it amongst all the other sharks?”

UFC president Dana White encouraged her to do so after the loss to Ribas.

“Fighting inconsistently, one time in the last year and her injuries,” White said. “And then you got smoked in the first round of this fight. She should definitely test free agency.”

VanZant said she banks $46,000 base per fight, with a matching win bonus attached. The Instagram sensation’s net worth has also grown through outside endeavors.

“I made more money on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ than I have in my entire UFC career combined,” VanZant said of her 2016 appearance on the ABC show. “Every fight, every win, every bonus.”

No matter VanZant’s next move, she’ll have the support of her favorite trainer, husband Austin Vanderford.
