“Oshi no Ko Reveals Ending Song Artist”

The Oshi no Ko anime Twitter account has revealed that QUEEN BEE is performing the show’s ending theme song “Mephisto.”

The song will be unveiled at an information announcement event at Anime Japan 2023 on March 25.

Oshi no Ko is set to begin airing in April. Before that, the first episode will be pre-screened theatrically across Japan from March 17 with a listed length of 90-minutes.

The anime is based on the Shueisha-published manga written by Aka Akasaki and drawn by Mengo Yokoyari, which began serialization in Weekly Young Jump in 2020 and has nine tankoubon volumes as of October 2022. It is published under the Young Jump Comics label.

Yen Press describes the premise as:

Gorou is a gynecologist and idol fan who’s in shock after his favorite star, Ai, announces an impromptu hiatus. Little does Gorou realize that he’s about to forge a bond with her that defies all common sense! Lies are an idol’s greatest weapon in this outrageous manga from Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish).  

Daisuke Hiramaki (Selection ProjectAsteroid in Love) as director, Chao Nekotomi (Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie opening director and storyboarder, Selection Project Episode 7 dance part director and storyboarder et al.) as assistant director, and Jin Tanaka (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, Laid-Back Camp) as series composer. Doga Kobo is the animation production company.

Other staff include Shun Sawai (Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie co-main animator) as sub-character designer, Studio Easter’s Tetsuya Usami (takt op. Destiny) as art director, Kei Ishiguro (Selection Project) as color designer, Takafumi Kuwano (Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie) as photography director, and Takurou Iga (Selection Project) as music composer. 

Meanwhile, the cast members include Rie Takahashi as Ai, Takeo Otsuka as Aqua, Yurie Igoma as Ruby, Kento Itou as Goro, Tomoyo Takayanagi as Sarina, Yumi Uchiyama as young Aqua, and Yurie Igoma as young Ruby.
