#NYPD cop shot in the Bronx

A plainclothes NYPD cop was shot in the Bronx on Tuesday night, police sources said.

The male officer, assigned to the Gun Violence Suppression Division, was struck in the back during the shooting near Lafayette Avenue and White Plains Road in Soundview at about 10:30 p.m. police and sources said. 

A 24-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the shooting, sources said. 

Police recovered a gun under a vehicle near the scene, sources said. 

The wounded cop, who sources said was wearing a vest, was taken in a police vehicle to Jacobi Hospital. He is listed in stable condition, police said.
