#NYC man burned by dry ice on Air France flight: lawsuit

That’s a knee-jerk reaction.

A Queens man says he was seriously hurt after an airplane beverage cart smashed him in the knee, and an Air France flight attendant quickly handed him dry ice to put on the injury.

Basirou Sanfo, 38, was traveling from Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport in June 2019 when the unsecured cart slammed into him, he said in a lawsuit against the airline.

Complaining and in “agony,” Sanfo claims a flight attendant then tried to help, but the dry ice left him with severe burns instead, according to the Brooklyn Federal Court papers.

“It truly is the classic case of adding insult to injury,” said Sanfo’s lawyer, Abram Bohrer.

The dry ice left Sanfro with second-degree burns and a disfigured knee, the lawyer added.

“It blew up like a balloon. It looks like someone actually put a balloon under his skin and inflated it,” Bohrer said.

Sanfro’s suing Air France for unspecified damages. Air France declined comment.
