#NYC could get 10 inches of snow over 3 days, forecasters say

The Big Apple could be walloped by up to 10 inches of snow following a weekend of bitterly cold temperatures, forecasters said Friday.

A storm blowing in from the west will strike Sunday night and potentially leave a large pile of powder on the city by Tuesday, according to AccuWeather meteorologist Randy Adkins.

“Our forecast is for snow to begin on Sunday evening, mixing with sleet during the day Monday with heavy precipitation expected during that time,” Adkins told the Post.

“Our preliminary snowfall forecast is for 6-10 inches of accumulation,” he said.

But he warned, “Should the storm track be farther offshore than what we are currently projecting…[then] snowfall amounts of a foot or more would be possible.”

On Saturday, the city will be sunny and bitterly cold with a low of 18 degrees before warming up slightly on Sunday, which is expected to see a low of 25 degrees, according to AccuWeather.

Monday will see a high of 32 degrees.

Snow following frigid weekend weather could snarl traffic during the Monday morning commute, said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Dave Dombeck.

“We’re going into this storm after a  fairly impressive stretch of cold weather  — so the snow won’t have too much trouble stickingt on the roads,” he said.

At the height of the storm Monday, the city could also see wind gusts up to 50 mph. The highest snow totals are expected to be north and northwest of the city with less in Long Island, which will see sleet and rain, meteorologists said.
