A New York man has been arrested for his alleged role in the deadly US Capitol invasion — after posting an image of the mob to Instagram with the words “This is me” and a pointing emoji superimposed on it, according to authorities.

Edward Jacob Lang was busted Saturday at his home in Newburgh, according to the FBI and the Mid-Hudson News Network.

He faces charges of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers or employees, civil disorder, accessing a restricted building or grounds, and violent entry or disorderly conduct, according to federal authorities.

Lang was allegedly among the throngs of supporters of President Trump who laid siege to the Capitol on Jan. 6 in an attempt to delay Congress’ certification of Joe Biden’s election win, an invasion that ended with five people dead including a US Capitol Police officer.

Rather than attempting to cover his tracks, Lang documented his alleged participation and the aftermath on both his Instagram and Facebook pages, according to an affidavit filed Friday by the FBI in support of an arrest warrant.

One image posted to Lang’s Instagram story shows a crush of rioters at a Capitol entranceway, superimposed with the all-caps words “THIS IS ME,” and an emoji of a hand with a pointing index finger, according to the filing.

Another post to Lang’s Facebook page — which, like his Instagram account, was inactive as of Sunday — features a lengthy message in which he claimed that he witnessed a woman’s death and was himself shot during the riot, according to authorities.

“I watched a woman die yesterday in front of my eyes. I saved 2 others from being trampled and suffocated by the Capitol Police,” he allegedly wrote. “I was shot with a lethal round in the foot its [sic] shattered multiple places, stitches in my skull, deep cuts over my entire body — for freedom and liberty and to defend the American Constitution.”

Lang’s own social media posts weren’t the only ones that put him at the riot, according to authorities.

Video footage of “an individual consistent in appearance with Lang” shows the man attacking cops outside the Capitol with a baseball bat, officials allege.

And a video posted to an unspecified Twitter account captures a man identified by authorities as Lang discussing the next steps with an unidentified woman.

“So what do you think happens next?” the woman asks, according to court filings.

“Guns. That’s it,” replies the man identified as Lang. “The First Amendment didn’t work, we pull out the Second.”

It was not immediately clear if Lang had retained legal counsel while awaiting an initial court appearance.

Multiple New Yorkers have been among the dozens arrested in connection with the riot, also including an MTA employee who called out sick from work to travel to Washington, DC and a reported former US Marine who lit up a “victory” cigar inside the Capitol.

Many of those arrested have been done in by a mountain of incriminating images obtained by the FBI.
