#NPR confuses ESPN correspondents in story about Maria Taylor

National Public Radio reported that host Maria Taylor is leaving ESPN to cover the Olympics for NBC Wednesday — but in an article, the outlet mistakenly included a picture of fellow reporter Kimberley A. Martin instead of Taylor.

The error was pointed out by Martin, a football reporter, on Twitter.

“Cmon guys…. We don’t *ALL* look alike,” Martin posted along with a GIF of her looking exasperated.

NPR explained the snafu by claiming it used an Associated Press photo of Martin that was inaccurately captioned as Taylor.

“Because of an error in an AP caption, this post previously featured an image of ESPN reporter Kimberley Martin instead of Maria Taylor. We apologize for the error,” the outlet tweeted.

Taylor, 34, left the cable sports giant after leaked private comments by fellow NBA host Rachel Nichols claiming ESPN let Taylor cover the NBA finals to make up for the network’s “crappy longtime record on diversity.” The comments were first reported by The New York Times.

The Post broke the news of ESPN and Taylor’s failure to reach a new contract agreement earlier this month.

Taylor is now expected to be part of NBC’s wall-to-wall coverage of the Summer Olympic Games that begins Friday in Tokyo.
