#Nonpartisan board calls on Trump to begin transition

A nonpartisan advisory board on presidential transitions urged President Trump to begin the transition process — one day after his electoral defeat to Joe Biden.

“We urge the Trump administration to immediately begin the post-election transition process and the Biden team to take full advantage of the resources available under the Presidential Transition Act,” the Center for Presidential Transition wrote in a Sunday letter.

“This was a hard-fought campaign, but history is replete with examples of presidents who emerged from such campaigns to graciously assist their successors,” the group said.

Trump has so far refused to concede the election to Biden, who on Saturday was projected to be the next president.

Instead, the president has repeatedly claimed Biden won by “illegal votes.” On Sunday, Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, said he intends to file up to 10 last-ditch lawsuits alleging election fraud.

Adding to the presidential transition delay, Biden has yet to be formally recognized as the president-elect by the General Services Administration, an independent federal government agency tasked with doing so.

The agency’s administrator, Emily Murphy, was appointed to her position by Trump.
