A 33-year-old man is facing federal charges over a Bronx shooting that left two winded in early August, police said Thursday.

Robert Gonzalez, who was out on probation, was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of attempted murder, according to Police Commissioner Dermot Shea.

Gonzalez is accused of opening fire outside 1839 University Avenue in Morris Heights on Aug. 9, striking a 48-year-old man in the leg and a 52-year-old man in the arm, cops said.

The alleged triggerman was also charged in the Southern District of New York with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

It was unclear why the feds took over the case instead of The Bronx District Attorney.

The NYPD referred questions about the court venue to the SDNY, which did not immediately respond.

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office also did not immediately respond for comment.
