#My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission Detroit Smashes Its Way Past 3 Billion Yen

The latest My Hero Academia anime continues to do well in Japanese theaters, with the official Twitter account for My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission announcing today that the anime film has surpassed 3 billion yen at the Japanese box office – the first film in the franchise to do so –, with the full box office report for the Weekly Shonen Jump adaptation released.

According to Mantan Web, as of September 20, My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission has made more than 3.08 billion yen (US$27.63 million) at Japanese cinemas on the back of over 2.24 million tickets sold. The film continues to be the highest-grossing film of the franchise, overtaking Two Heroes’ total gross of 1.72 billion yen (including limited engagements and re-releases), and Heroes Rising‘s total gross which stands at 1.79 billion yen (US$15.1 million). World Heroes’ Mission only needs US$2 million to be the highest-grossing My Hero Academia worldwide.

The fifth season of the My Hero Academia TV anime series is currently airing in Japan and streaming on Crunchyroll soon after the Japanese broadcast. My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: World Heroes Mission opens in Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa on October 28, and in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Ireland on October 29 in both subbed and dubbed formats.
