“My Hero Academia To Release Original Baseball Episode This Summer”

Originally a My Hero Academia April Fool’s joke, the Hero League Baseball is set to become a reality with the upcoming “HLB” episode that will release this summer with another, currently untitled episode.

The HLB is a league set up by several baseball-loving pro heroes. The episode will see two teams, the Orcas (Gang Orca Agency) and Lionels (Shishido Agency), clashing in the league’s finals. Pro heroes and interns from other agencies will also appear to assist the two opposing sides.

The title and plot details for the second episode will be revealed later, but it was announced that both original episodes will be released through streaming platforms. Additionally, they will receive an advance theatrical screening from June 16 to June 19 in Japan as part of My Hero Academia‘s Hero Day (which falls on June 16) plans.

The original episodes will precede the premiere of My Hero Academia‘s sixth season, which is set to begin in the fall. The fifth season aired in 2021.

My Hero Academia is based on the manga series by Kouhei Horikoshi, which was first serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2014 and has published 34 tankoubon volumes as of May 2022. It is published under the Jump Comics label. The anime series began in 2016, and there have been three movies in addition to the TV series. Both the movies and the series are produced by Bones.
