#Joe Biden’s family is still cashing in on the name

President Joe Biden’s “should not be used in connection with any commercial activities to suggest, or in any way that could reasonably [be] understood to imply, his endorsement or support”: So one White House official told the press on background last month. But it seems some Bidens didn’t get the memo.

Biden’s brothers Jim and Frank have been trading on the family name for decades, with son Hunter joining in more recently — cashing in on their presumed ability to get favors from Joe. And it hasn’t stopped.

Frank Biden appeared in a Florida law firm ad — on Inauguration Day, no less — using the president’s name to draw attention to the Berman Law Group’s class-action suit against sugar cane growers: “The two Biden brothers have long held a commitment to pushing environmental issues to the forefront,” the ad pointedly claimed.

And Hunter’s newest endeavor is a memoir on his struggle with addiction, “Beautiful Things,” due out April 6. The president is painting it as a personal triumph for his son — “My boy’s back,” he cried to CBS’ Nora O’Donnell — but would any book company publish this memoir (and reportedly pay big bucks for it) if Hunter’s father wasn’t president?
