The Genjitsu no Yohane — Sunshine in the Mirror anime, a fantasy spin-off of Love Live! Sunshine!!, has received a July release window and a key visual depicting its cast of characters.

Genjitsu no Yohane — Sunshine in the Mirror was officially announced last June, following an earlier April’s Fool announcement the same year. It is based on a series of illustrations that began in 2020 and feature the Yohane persona of chuunibyou character Yoshiko Tsushima in a fantasy setting. A Kadokawa-published manga titled Genjitsu no Yohane -Unpolarized Reflexion-, illustrated by Kouta Matsuda, began in 2022.

The staff includes Asami Nakatani (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Season 2 #7 dance part director and storyboarder) as director, Toshiya Ouno (Shadows House) as series composer, Yumiko Yamamoto (Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld co-character designer) as character designer, and Tatsuya Katou (Ensemble Stars!! Road to Show!!) as music composer. Bandai Namco Filmsworks’ Sunrise brand is credited with the animation production.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Aika Kobayashi as Yohane, Kanako Takatsuki as Hanamaru, Arisa Komiya as Dia, Ai Furihata as Ruby, Anju Inami as Chika, Shuka Saitou as You, Nanaka Suwa as Kanan, Nanaka Suwa as Rico, and Aina Suzuki as Mari.

The Love Live! Sunshine!! anime aired from 2016 to 2017 with two seasons, with a manga running from 2016 to 2018. An anime movie titled Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow was released in 2019. The show is one of several anime spawned from the Love Live! multimedia franchise that began in 2013.
