“#Man slashed on Manhattan subway platform: police sources”
A man was slashed inside a Manhatan subway station early Wednesday, police sources said.
The victim was on the platform of the Cathedral Parkway – 110th Street 1 train station in South Harlem around 1 a.m. when the suspect attacked him, according to the sources.
The circumstances leading up to the attack were not immediately clear.
The assailant, who fled on foot, is described as a man in his 20s, about 6 feet tall and heavyset with possible cornrows, last seen wearing a multi-colored shirt, the sources said.
The incident comes amid a rash of violence on the rails — including the Friday spree by a a crew of teens who allegedly slashed three straphangers and punched a fourth in the face in what prosecutors said was a “gang initiation.”
Mayor Bill de Blasio pledged earlier this week to temporarily add 250 more cops to patrol the subway system.
