#Man slashed after being attacked in NYC

A group of six attacked a man in Brooklyn on Saturday — and one of them cut him up with what’s believed to be a machete, police sources said.

The group of men went after the victim on Fifth Avenue in Sunset Park at about 6 p.m. and slashed him in the hands, according to sources.

The person with the weapon was described as Hispanic man, 5 foot 5, and was last seen wearing a black-and-white button up shirt and baggy pants.

He fled up 48th Street toward Sixth Avenue, police sources said.

Linda Lin, 38, manager of the 5th Avenue Grocery, told The Post she and her husband were forced to lock their store doors in fright and flee to the back of the store after she saw the group of men running — one with a “long knife, outside.

“I just see people running outside, and they got the knife,” she said. “A couple of people, and they held a long knife. I was so scared,” she told The Post.

“I see it here, and I told my husband, ‘Lock the door!’” she said.

Residents near the scene described the neighborhood as deteriorating the past few years as they see crime continuing to increase.

Tony, 76, who declined to give his last name, told The Post he’s lived in the neighborhood for the last 26 years. He said the area near the slashing has been drug-ridden for years now, with “junkies” constantly flowing in and out.

He said the residents need more police action in the neighborhood.

“It’s been bad,” he said of the state of the neighborhood, particularly along this stretch along Fifth Avenue. “That’s terrible … I don’t know what happened with the police. The police don’t do nothing.”
