The gunplay began at around 12:40 a.m. in Brooklyn, when an unidentified 28-year-old man was shot in the leg around 12:40 a.m. in East New York, police said. He is recovering at Brookdale hospital.
Less than an hour later, at around 1:30 a.m. at the Jackson Houses on Park Avenue in the South Bronx two men were shot, police said.
EMS pronounced an unidentified 23-year-old dead at the scene. The second victim, a 26-year-old man, was shot in the groin and taken to NYC Health Hospitals/Lincoln with non-life-threatening injuries.
That same time in Manhattan, a 32-year-old man was shot in the leg around near Avenue C and East 4th Street in the East Village. He was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
At 2 a.m. on Willis Avenue near 136th Street in the Bronx, an unidentified man was shot twice in the leg, police said. EMS took the 32-year-old victim to Lincoln hospital. His condition was not immediately known.
Thirty minutes later, at the nearby Patterson Houses, police responded to shots fired around 2:22 a.m. and found another male victim, 39, with a gunshot wound to the groin. He was also taken to Lincoln hospital, where he is expected to survive from his injuries.
Meanwhile, an unidentified man was found dead on a northbound #3 train at the 148th Street Subway station around 1 a.m.
A 911 caller reported a disorderly man on board, and when cops showed up they found him unconscious and unresponsive. EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene. He was 59. The city medical examiner is investigating the cause of death.
Gotham has seen 14 straight weeks of surging gun violence.
