#Made in Abyss Season 2 Gets New PV and Key Visual

The official Twitter account for the Made in Abyss anime series revealed a new key visual and promotional video for the anime’s upcoming second season titled Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun (Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ōgonkyō). The anime is set to premiere sometime in 2022.

Additionally, Sentai Filmworks announced that it has acquired the upcoming season and will distribute the season, along with the first season and three feature length films, to audiences around the world (excluding Asia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and MENA). 

The anime’s cast includes Miyu Tomita as Riko, Mariya Ise as Reg, Shiori Izawa as Nanachi, Misaki Kuno as Faputa, Yuka Terasaki as Vueko, Hiroaki Hirata as Wazukyan, and Mitsuki Saiga as Belaf.

Reprising their roles from the first season of Made in Abyss are Masayuki Kojima as director, Hitoshi Haga as assistant director, Hideyuki Kurata as series composer and scriptwriter, Production I.G’s Kazuchika Kise as character designer, Takakura Takeshi as design leader, Inspired’s Osamu Masuyama as art director, Misao Yamashita as color designer, T2 Studio’s Ema Tsunetaka as photography director, and Kevin Penkin as music composer. Kinema Citrus is the animation production company.

Other staff include Yuka Kuroda (Made in Abyss animation director, Made in Abyss Dawn of the Deep Soul main animator) as co-character designer and Inspired’s Teru Sekiguchi (Made in Abyss Dawn of the Deep Soul backgrounds) as co-art director.

The series recently had a sequel movie titled Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul  that premiered in Japan in January 2020.

Sentai Filmworks released the movie in the United States and describes the film as:

Dawn of the Deep Soul continues the epic adventure of plucky Riko and Reg who are joined by their new friend Nanachi. Together they descend into the Abyss’ treacherous fifth layer, the Sea of Corpses, and encounter the mysterious Bondrewd, a legendary White Whistle whose shadow looms over Nanachi’s troubled past. Bondrewd is ingratiatingly hospitable, but the brave adventurers know things are not always as they seem in the enigmatic Abyss.
