#Konami’s Power Pro Baseball Game Takes a Swing at Web Anime

Konami’s Jikkyo Powerful Pro Yakyuu series of baseball games has been running since the ’90s, and the iOS and Android spin on the series has racked up around 44 million downloads since it launched in 2014. Now the mobile game has inspired a web anime, with four 10-minute episodes on the way from anime studio CloverWorks (THE PROMISED NEVERLAND, Wonder Egg Priority).

The mobile game has players focusing on the series’ popular Success Mode, in which you raise a professional baseball player from the ground up. The anime adaptation serves up a high school story centered on a protagonist who has always dreamt of becoming a pro baseball player. When he starts attending Powerful High School he runs into an old childhood friend named Subaru Hoshii, who used to share his dream of competing at Japanese high school baseball championship tournament Summer Koshien. However, Subaru seems to have lost this particular dream…

The staff at CloverWorks revealed so far includes director Tetsuaki Watanabe (episodes of Haikyu!!, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress), series composition writer Daisuke Daito (episodes of Noblesse), character designer and animation director Yukiko Watanabe (Zoids Wild Zero), and composer Seima Iwahashi (Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World).
