There should be a “30 for 30” on this Mets week alone. The season in full might be a Netflix 10-part series. Drama never ceases to leave Mets land. This week has been full of storylines with the latest being their acting GM Zack Scott allegedly being drunk and asleep at the wheel. When it rains, it pours … well, it tornadoes.

What in the world is going on in New York?

Anyway, there’s plenty to discuss on a brand new edition of your favorite Mets podcast, “Amazin’ But True,” with me and former Met Nelson Figueroa. On this episode, we dive into everything that has happened this week, take a trip to the Nelson Figueroa Spanish Academy and give the details of our live podcast happening on Friday, Sept. 10 to raise money for families of 9/11 and first responders.

Amazin’ But True Podcast with Jake & Figgie:

  • Scott Mess: Zack Scott made a bad decision late into the night and in the early morning Wednesday. He already was likely in the final month of being the Mets GM, but this seals it even more. The Mets need a cleaning of the front office. Scott and Sandy Alderson need to go, and the Mets need new voices of leadership to run an organization that has not been able to avoid the negative headlines — even with an ownership change.
  • Doubleheader Sweep: Javier Baez shut up the haters with a big hit and game-winning run in Tuesday’s first game of a key doubleheader sweep. Are the Mets back or is too early to say that after two wins over a lousy team? Anything can happen and the Mets will be doing a lot of scoreboard watching all of September as they sit five games back in the NL East and 5 1/2 back in the NL Wild Card.
  • Nelson Figueroa Spanish Academy: Figgie tries teaching me how to say “drunk driving,” “ya gotta believe” and “charity event” in Spanish. We then discuss our live charity event podcast coming up and the cool prizes and memorabilia that will be there, all for a great cause, honoring the 20th anniversary of the tragic events of 9/11.
  • Figgie’s Front Page Moment/His Tears: Figgie looks back to comments he made after pitching against the Nationals, where players in their dugout were singing and cheering while he was pitching. His comments led to him being sent down. He also explains the time he cried as his MLB career was coming to an end.
