The hockey season is back and the playoffs are days away. The Rangers take on the Islanders Wednesday night in the team’s only exhibition matchup before taking on the Hurricanes in Toronto for Game 1 of their playoff series Saturday. To preview the Rangers’ playoff series, we present to you a new episode of the “Up In The Blue Seats” podcast with Ron Duguay. Ron is stoked to have hockey back on his TV again.

Doogie opens the podcast sending this thoughts and prayers to Barry Beck after tragically losing his son Brock in a stabbing in Canada. Me and Ron then get into the Rangers-Hurricanes best-of-five series, break down why the Rangers should pull it off and give out our predictions.

NY Post Rangers beat writer Larry Brooks then drops by in his weekly spot. Brooksie talks about Tuesday’s exhibition games and if we should read into them. He also gets into the Rangers’ exhibition against the Islanders, evaluating Filip Chytil during this playoff run as they determine the plans for him in the future and Jesper Fast winning the Players’ Player Award for the fifth straight year. Brooksie then makes his prediction for the Rangers-Hurricanes series.

Former Ranger, MSG Network analyst and ESPN Radio New York color commentator for the playoff games Dave Maloney then joins the show for a third time. The friend of the program talks about calling games by watching a monitor and not in the arena and how different it will be. Maloney also discusses what he has seen so far during training camp and the first exhibition games, the Rangers-Flyers matchups back when they played and describing John Halligan after Chris Kreider won the John Halligan Good Guy Award. Maloney then breaks down Rangers-Hurricanes and explains why the Blueshirts should be able to win the series.

Islanders legend and Hockey Hall of Famer Clark Gillies then joins Ron and I. Gillies talks about why he started his foundation, ties with the Isles today, choosing them over the Oilers at the start of his career, going to Studio 54 once, the Rangers-Islanders rivalry in the 80’s, the exhibition game between them Wednesday, if his game would translate today and what the Isles will do in their series against the Panthers, including his bet with one of their owners.

Catch up on all episodes of “Up In The Blue Seats,” a New York Rangers podcast, by subscribing to the podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Ron Duguay is joined every Wednesday by special Rangers and hockey guests. We will recap Games 1, 2 and 3 of the Rangers’ playoff series against the Hurricanes on next Wednesday’s episode.
