The NFL season has finally arrived this week. We never were sure it was going to happen, but the NFL season kicks off in two days. The Jets will start off Sunday in Buffalo against the Bills, who many believe are the favorites in the AFC East. To preview the Jets’ Week 1 matchup and the 2020 season, we bring you a brand new episode of the “Gang’s All Here” podcast with beat writer Brian Costello and me.

Coz and I open up the show talking about our excitement to have football back and why a bubble concept wouldn’t work for the NFL. Coz talks about his drive to Buffalo, what his playlist will look like and examines what the Bills will look like this season. I believe they will win the division, but Coz thinks they are overrated and will probably be a sub-.500 team. Will the AFC East winner be 9-7? Coz talks about asking Joe Douglas why people should believe in this team and the GM explaining that this is a close-knit team, which is not something you can know from seeing it on paper. We examine the no-fans element to the game, which I think will hurt the Jets for their home games, while Coz does not see it playing much of a factor. Coz and I then break down Sunday’s game and explain why we are taking the Bills.

We then dive into the unofficial depth chart for Week 1. We look at the receivers and Chris Hogan finishing off his AFC East checklist with the Jets. Backup quarterback behind Sam Darnold is a question mark with Joe Flacco likely out until potentially October. Will David Fales end up being the Week 1 backup QB? We end up talking about Josh McCown making $12,000 to hang at home in Texas and be the emergency Eagles QB if they need him and Coz talks about him being the nicest guy he has covered in sports. We move over to the Jets defense. Will Avery Williamson really not start? Their biggest issue is cornerback: can Pierre Desir and Bless Austin be trusted? Can Quinnen Williams and the front seven be successful rushing the passer? We wrap up the segment making our predictions for the Jets this season…and make our Super Bowl picks!

Jets play-by-play voice on ESPN Radio 98.7 FM New York Bob Wischusen then joins the podcast. Wischusen talks about what it will be like calling road games watching a monitor in Florham Park, NJ. How difficult and different will it be for the broadcast crews for away games? Wischusen gives his overall thoughts on the team, why he thinks the Jets will finish 7-9, the rebuilding process, the effect this rebuild has on Adam Gase, the development of Darnold and if the team would use its $30 million-plus open cap space to make a trade. We end the conversation wondering about Le’Veon Bell, if he will take the next step this season and who was most to blame for his struggles last year.
