On June 21, Nagoya-based company XING announced the rankings for the most popular karaoke songs based on the number of times sung on its online karaoke service “JOYSOUND” series and “UGA2 series between January 1 and June 10, 2021. JOYSOUND started its service in 1992 and has become one of the major karaoke brands in Japan, offering the karaoke industry’s largest lineup of more than 310,000 songs.

The most sung anime theme song in the first half of 2021 was anison singer LiSA‘s 17th single song, “Homura” (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train theme song), beating the long-time champion “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis” in second and her own “Gurenge” (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba TV anime OP theme) in fourth. “Gurenge” was the most popular karaoke song in the entire year of 2020.

“Homura” also ranks fourth in the overall karaoke song ranking, and LiSA herself ranks second in the overall artist ranking, behind only YOASOBI.
