The production team for the upcoming Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine anime film has released a new key visual, in honor of the Black Organization’s role in the story. The film will screen in Japanese theaters on April 14, 2023 during the Golden Week holiday.
The new anime visual showcases many Detective Conan characters in black and violet-themed fashion. It features Ran Mouri, Shinichi Kudo, Conan Edogawa, Ai Haibara, Akai Shuuichi, Rei Furuya, Vermouth, Gin, and Vodka.

The black and violet fashion is also present in a special Detective Conan café collaboration, in which the main theme is based on a luxury hotel lounge. Various entrées, desserts, and drink options are available for purchase on the café’s menu.
Merchandise items such as coasters, acrylic stands, tote bags, and puzzle sets can also be purchased at the café. Visitors can visit the full menu page and full merchandise list for more information on the food and items.
In addition, visitors can also vote for their favorite menu dishes, themed around moments of Ai Haibara from the anime series.

To reserve a spot at the café and vote, visitors will need to first create and register an account here. The Detective Conan collaboration café will be hosted at different locations between April to July in Shinjuku, Tokyo Solamachi, Ikebukuro, Nagoya, Yokohama, Abeno, Umeda, Fukuoka, Miyagi, and Hokkaido. Reservation times and event duration vary at each location, with specific details available on the café’s official website.
Yuzuru Tachikawa (Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer, Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 chief director) is serving as the film’s director, with Takeharu Sakurai (Detective Conan: The Crimson Bullet) as scriptwriter, and Yuugo Kanno (Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween) as music composer. TMS Entertainment is in charge of the animation production.
Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine is the 26th overall movie in the Detective Conan franchise. Gosho Aoyama first serialized the mystery manga in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shounen Sunday magazine on January 19, 1994. A total of 102 tankoubon volumes have been released as of September 2022. Viz Media releases the manga as Case Closed in the English language. The manga series has also inspired a long-running TV anime series that has been airing since 1996.

The story follows Conan and the Detective Boys being invited to Hachijojima Island by Sonoko Suzuki. Near the island where they’re doing whale watching, an ocean facility called the Pacific Buoy is testing and utilizing a new facial recognition technology. When Conan learns from Subaru Okiya that a Europol member has been assassinated in Germany, he sneaks into the Pacific Buoy and discovers that an engineer with an important USB has been kidnapped by the Black Organization. Meanwhile, a dangerous threat looms towards Ai Haibara.
