Aniplex has revealed that the previously announced anime adaptation of Koukyuu no Karasu will premiere this October 2022. A teaser visual has been released and a PV trailer will be uploaded to Aniplex’s YouTube channel sometime next week. 

Koukyuu no Karasu will star Saku Mizuno as Jusetsu Ryou, Masaaki Mizunaka as Koushun Ka, Taku Yashiro as Eisei, and Marika Kouno as Jiujiu. 

Chizuru Miyawaki is directing the anime series and Satomi Oshima is writing the series’ screenplay. Shinji Takeuchi is in charge of character design while Asami Tachibana is scoring the music. BN Pictures is in charge of animation production for the anime series. 

The anime adapts Kouko Shirakawa’s light novel series of the same name. Artist Ayuko provides illustrations for the books. The first volume was released on April 20, 2018 under Shueisha’s Orange Bunko imprint. Six volumes of the series have been published as of April 14, 2022.

The story centers on Uki, an imperial concubine who has never been called to the emperor’s bedchambers, and maintains a singularly unique life within the harem chambers. Seen by some as having the appearance of an old woman, and some others as a young lady, she is known to use mysterious magic that helps with everything from finding lost items to inflicting curses. When a circumstance makes the emperor call on her, their meeting will change history.
