Unlike many in the sports world, Kodak Black has come to the defense of former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown.

On Sunday (December 2), AB was cut from the team after ripping his helmet and pads off and storming off the field shirtless while waving a peace sign to the crowd during the third quarter of the Bucs victory over the New York Jets.

In a tweet the Florida-bred rapper wrote on Monday, Kodak suggests there is  “some shit going on,” and encourages NFL fans not to write off AB as a result of the incident.

“Don’t B Kwik To Shun @AB84Ain’t Nobody Finna Jus Do That Fa No Apparent Reason,” he began. “Gotta B Some Shit We Don’t Know Bout & Clearly Fam Had Some Fines to pay & dem People Wasn’t Tryna Put em in da game so he can earn dem bonuses … of course a nigga gone get frustrated.”

Bucs head coach Bruce Arians told media AB was frustrated because of playing restrictions and a snap count monitoring his usage. According to Arians, AB was instructed to go into the game but refused to and that is when his outburst occurred.

ESPN reports the 2021 Super Bowl champion was mere catches away from earning up to one million dollars in incentives, including a $333,333 bonus he was just one receiving yard shy of earning.

Six-time Super Bowl champion and Bucs quarterback Tom Brady spoke about the incident in a post-game media appearance and expressed his concern for AB’s well-being while also petitioning for empathy on his behalf.

Antonio Brown seemed to remain completely unfazed by the incident, and managed to post several Instagram photos just hours after the Bucs secured the win without him with the cryptic captions such as “Super Gremlin,” and “Football is what we do, not who we are.”

AB also released his new single “Pit Not The Palace,” which includes an audio recording from one of his supporters praising his return to the Bucs, after he was suspended due to falsifying his COVId-19 vaccination status.
