#Kingdom Season 5 Premiere Delayed

Kingdom’s fifth season has had the broadcast of its first episode suspended. It was supposed to premiere on NHK General TV on January 7 at 12 AM JST.

The episode will now tentatively air on January 14 at 12:15 AM JST. 

The Kingdom anime series started in 2012, with the fourth season premiering in 2022. The anime is based on the Shueisha-published Warring States period-set manga by Yasuhisa Hara. Crunchyroll describes the anime as:

Shin and Hyou are war-orphans in the kingdom of Qin. They dream of proving themselves on the battlefield until the day Hyou is captured by a minister. The boy manages to escape and return to his village, but he is badly injured. Shin then meets a mysterious youth who bears an eerie resemblance to Hyou—a boy who will one day become emperor!

The Kingdom manga debuted in Weekly Young Jump in 2006 and has 70 tankoubon volumes as of November 2023. It has inspired three live-action film adaptations as of July 2023.
