#Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai Reveals 2 New Key Visuals & Additional Cast Members
Two new key visuals and additional voice cast members have been revealed for the Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai TV anime series. The 20-episode anime is scheduled to premiere in April 2024.
The new visuals showcase the addition of four female characters, along with the two main male leads.
The latest voice cast member additions for Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai include:
- • Rina Honnizumi as Asebi
- • Hiroki Nanami as Hamayu
- • Ayaka Fukuhara as Masuho no Susuki
- • Rie Kugimiya as Shiratama
They join a main cast that is headlined by Mutsumi Tamura as Yukiya and Miyu Irino as Wakamiya.
The series is directed by Yoshiaki Kyougoku (Laid-Back Camp Season 1-2, Laid-Back Camp film), with Yukiko Yamamuro (Parasite in Love screenwriter) as series screenwriter, Takumo Norita (Break Blade) as character designer, and Eishi Segawa (Ushio to Tora) as music composer. Pierrot is in charge of the animation production for the anime.
Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai is based on the fantasy novel series by Chisato Abe, which is the second installment of their Yatagarasu novel series. It was first published by Bungeishunjuu on June 26, 2012, while Abe was in university. Ten main volumes, split into two parts, have been released as of February 2024, along with two side story volumes. The first two volumes of the series have also inspired manga adaptations by Natsumi Matsuzaki.
For her work, Abe became the youngest recipient of the Seichou Matsumoto Prize.
The Yatagarasu novels take place in the world of Yamauchi where dominance is wielded by a clan of the titular race. In Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai, the Yatagarasu Yukiya gets embroiled in Imperial Court intrigue after he is chosen to be the attendant of an imperial prince.
