#Kantai Collection Season 2 Coming This Fall

The second season of Kantai Collection will premiere sometime in Fall 2022. The news was tweeted by the C2 Kikan Twitter account (thanks, ANN) following the initial announcement at the C2 Kikan Chinjufu New Year Special Live! 2022 event. 

The announcement of a sequel Kantai Collection anime series was made back in 2015, following the end of the first season. This continuation was noted to be separate from the 2016 Kantai Collection anime movie. In 2019, it was announced that ENGI would be producing the new series; the first season and movie were produced by Diomedéa and directed by Keizou Kusakawa (Ahiru no Sora chief director).

Kantai Collection, or KanColle, is based on the “fleet training simulation game” of the same name. The game originated as a Flash-based browser game in 2013 and switched to HTML5 in 2018. There is also an Android version. Aside from the anime adaptations, KanColle has inspired various manga, light novels, and more.

Crunchyroll describes the KanColle anime series as:

Set in a world where humanity has lost control of the oceans to the “deep sea fleet,” the only hope to counter this threat are the Kanmusu, a group of girls who possess the spirit of Japanese warships. The story revolves around Fubuki, a destroyer who comes to the Chinjufu base to train with other Kanmusu. Watch as their stories unfold!
