Former President Obama offered vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris some tips about running alongside Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

“So tell me about Joe and your relationship with Joe, and what do I need to know?” Sen. Harris (D-Calif.) asked Obama in a video posted Tuesday.

“Like, what’s the thing about the ice cream? He loves ice cream. Tell me about that,” she continued, laughing.

“Well, listen, ice cream is big. Pasta with red sauce, he can go deep on that. He really does like those aviator glasses, he knows he looks good in them,” Obama responded jokingly.

The five-minute virtual conversation marked the 44th president’s first campaign appearance with the Democratic running mate.

Obama, who successfully ran for the White House with Biden at his side in 2008 and 2012, then touted his former running mate’s character.

“The main thing to know about Joe is that Joe has never lost his sense of why we do this, and we do it because of … for him, memories of his family back in Scranton and then the people of Delaware that he represented, the folks on the Amtrak train he met each and every day.

“He is constantly aware that that is why we do this. His focus is going to be how’s that going to help those people who sent him there,” Obama told the California Democrat.

The former president then poked some fun at his former VP, warning Harris of Biden’s tendency to stretch out events “talking to every single person.”

“But I love that about him, too,” Harris replied, “I really do. And it’s what the people deserve, it’s what they want. People want to be seen and Joe sees people — through those aviator glasses and without them.”

At the end of the discussion, Obama told Harris that she was “doing great” and Harris thanked Obama for joining her before signing off.

“I’m going to be doing everything I can and Michelle will be, too, to make sure that we have a good Election Day,” Obama closed.
