Joe Biden’s campaign has instructed its staff to delete TikTok — the Chinese-owned social media app — from their phones due to security and privacy concerns, according to a report.

Dan Remus, the presumptive Democratic nominee’s general counsel, told the staffers in an email that they should “refrain from downloading and using TikTok on work and personal devices,” Bloomberg News reported.

The campaign has no official presence on the application, about which security experts have raised cybersecurity concerns.

The Democratic National Committee and Republican National Committee have both warned their candidates and workers about using the social media platform, which is owned by the Beijing-based internet company ByteDance, according to the news outlet.

Last year, The Guardian reported that internal documents instructed moderators to censor content that could rile Chinese officials, though the app said at the time that those policies were no longer in effect, according to Business Insider.

Top US senators later called on intelligence agencies to probe the app’s connection to Beijing and whether it poses national-security risks.

The US armed services and several government agencies — including the Department of Homeland Security and State Department — have banned troops and workers from using TikTok.

Trump administration officials have claimed that TikTok’s data-collection practices pose privacy risks to users.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien said earlier this month that the White House was considering a ban on the app.

Chief of staff Mark Meadows later said that restrictions against the app could come in “weeks, not months.”
