Jeep finally launched its first all-electric vehicle at the Paris Motor Show as promised last month. The new electrified Jeep Avenger SUV is a compact yet capable vehicle designed for the European market.

While we don’t know if you’ll ever be able to buy Jeep’s first all-electric SUV in the United States, those in Europe can get the new Avenger in early 2023 with front-wheel drive and 249 miles of range per charge. Jeep first teased the crossover in March, but now it’s all official.

The Jeep Avenger EV is a small all-electric SUV that the company described as modern, fun, and emotional. The Avenger will debut the second-generation electric CMP platform from Stellantis called STLA Small. It promises to offer decent specs, range, and charging speeds for those switching to a zero-emission vehicle.

We heard rumors that a 4×4 model would be announced this week, but oddly, that’s not the case. While Jeep did tease an even smaller 4×4 model at the event, the primary model announced today is only front-wheel drive.

This FWD Jeep delivers 154 horsepower with a front electric motor capable of around 249 miles (400 km) of range thanks to the 54 kWh battery. However, that’s with the WLTP test cycle and not an EPA-estimated mileage rating. Jeep noted that different driving conditions could offer upwards of 341 miles per charge.

According to Jeep, the 400 Volt electric powertrain system is capable of fast charging, and owners can expect around 18 miles of range after three minutes on a charger. Or, those using a 100kW DC fast charger will see 20-80% charge in under 25 minutes.

The small Jeep will slot in under the Renegade, but it’ll still come with Jeep roots regarding offroad capabilities. Jeep claims the best ground clearance in its segment, sitting 7.9-inches from the ground and offering a decent 20-degree breakover angle and a 32 degrees departure angle. It’ll also have Jeep’s array of terrain controls, including Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Mud, and Sand modes, hill descent control, and more.

Unfortunately, Jeep didn’t share many other performance and specs details. The all-new 2023 Jeep Avenger SUV is available for pre-order today in select regions, with pre-orders running through the end of November. Then, expect the Avenger to hit European streets in early 2023 as the first of many electric Jeep models.
